Biomedical Research Support Service (SAIBIS)
For the conservation of samples and reagents, there are -20ºC and -80ºC freezers and 4ºC refrigeration cabinets.
As part of the basic infrastructure for occupational risk prevention, there is an eye wash shower, a fume hood and a safety air extraction cabinet.
The work surfaces are equipped with vacuum and compressed air. The laboratory is equipped with distilled water and MilliQ type.
Among the equipment within the unit, the following stand out:
• QuantStudio™ 12K Flex real-time PCR system for OpenArray™ technology (ThermoFisher Scientific).
The QuantStudio™ 12K Flex system is OpenArray™ ready to easily analyze over 12,000 reactions in a single run, with increased throughput to get the statistically significant answers you need. In addition, you can easily validate and select targets of interest with a selected panel of genes.
The OpenArray™ components are designed to save time and money allowing you to get started immediately, easy to use and reduce handling time.
Applications: gene expression, microRNA and small non-coding RNA, SNP genotyping, protein analysis, protein thermal shift, high-resolution fusion, copy number variation and pathogen detection.
• UV/VIS Multiskan™ GO UV/VIS Spectrophotometer (Thermo Scientific)
Spectrophotometer for microplates and cuvettes in the UV and visible spectrum (200-1000 nm). Recommended for DNA and RNA quantification and purity, protein assays, enzyme assays, kinetic assays, immunoassays, cell proliferation and cytotoxicity assays, apoptosis assays, indicator gene assays, GPCR assays.
• QuantStudio™ 7 Flex Real-Time PCR System (ThermoFisher Scientific)
The QuantStudio™ 7 Flex real-time PCR system is designed for versatility. It has interchangeable blocks for 96-well (0.1 and 0.2 ml), 384-well and also for the 384-well TaqMan™ custom card format. It features the Optiplex system, which allows multiplexing, being able to perform both TaqMan and SYBR based assays in the same sequence.
Applications: Gene expression and genotyping studies.
• QIAcube automatic nucleic acid extractor (QIAGEN®)
The QIAcube instrument performs automated nucleic acid isolation and purification in molecular diagnostic or molecular biology applications. It can process a maximum of 12 samples per run. It is designed to automate QIAGEN kits and the PAXgene Blood RNA Kit. The kit controls integrated components such as a centrifuge, a thermal stirrer, a pipetting system and a robotic gripper.
• AccuFill automated loading system for OpenArray technology
It is an automated system for handling and loading PCR samples and master mixes from a 384-well plate to an OpenArray plate for further processing in QuantStudio 12K Flex OpenArray.
