Summary

Lipids are critically important molecules with many essential functions. They are major constituents of all membrane compartments and are key determinants of numerous cellular processes including cell growth and division, mitochondrial energy production, and synapse development and plasticity. Alterations in lipid metabolism have been associated with a range of diseases, including atherosclerosis, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. This highly anticipated event will bring together leading researchers to discuss the latest advancements in understanding the impact of lipids on health and disease. Featured talks will focus on the mechanistic importance of lipids in cardiovascular, neurological disorders and metabolic alterations offering new insights into human health.

Basic and translational scientists working at IBiS will provide and ideal atmosphere to discuss, collaborate and exchange ideas from fundamental lipid biology to physiological and pathophysiological consequences. Junior scientists and students will have an exciting opportunity to interact and directly learn from leading scientists of the field.
