Título del Proyecto: Partial Reprogramming to Rejuvenate Neuronal Cells: An Innovative Strategy to Alleviate Age-Related Decline in the Aging Brain.

Financiación: 200.000 €

Organismo financiador: Proyectos Generación del Conocimiento 2023. Ministerio Ciencia e Innovación.

Resumen del proyecto: Aging is a major risk factor for neurological disease and is associated with cognitive decline, neuroinflammation, and impaired brain homeostasis. Astrocytes are key regulators of brain function and may substantially contribute to age-related dysfunction. This project explores whether partial reprogramming can rejuvenate neural cells in the central nervous system, with a particular focus on astrocytes. The aim is to reverse age-associated astrocyte dysfunction and restore their neuroprotective functions to improve brain health.

Título del Proyecto: Study of the effect of partial reprogramming on the physiology of astrocytes and its potential impact on brain homeostasis and cognitive capacity.

Financiación: 199.880 €

Organismo financiador: Plan Estatal 2021-2023 - Ayudas para incentivar la consolidación investigadora. Ministerio Ciencia e Innovación

Resumen del proyecto:

Given that aging is a major risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases, and that astrocytes are increasingly recognized as key players in processes such as inflammaging and disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, this project investigates whether partial reprogramming can rejuvenate astrocytes in vitro. The aim is to identify mechanisms of astrocyte rejuvenation and determine how restoring their homeostatic and neuroprotective functions may contribute to healthier brain aging and disease amelioration.
